This policy explains what information the Tirthoday / Panch Parmeshthi app (package com.lalit.panch_parmeshthi) collects, why, and the choices you have. The app is a free devotional app for Jain community members: books for reading offline, Swadhyay (PDFs), daily thought, photos, videos, events, Vihar updates, and a directory of Jain temples and dharmashalas. It has no advertising and we do not sell your data.
1. Who we are
The app is developed and run by Lalit (“we”, “us”). Contact: [email protected].
2. Information we collect
| Information | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Name, email address and Google account ID | When you choose “Continue with Google” | To create your account, show your name in Settings, and keep your profile when you reinstall |
| Mobile number (optional) | Only if you choose it from the Android phone-number picker or type it. You can skip. It is not verified by OTP. | So the community team can contact you; never shown to other users |
| Language and profile settings | When you choose a language or sign in | To show the app in your language and send notifications in it |
| Device notification token, app language, topics | When you allow notifications | To deliver notifications such as the daily thought, new content and Vihar updates |
| Location (approximate or precise) | Only when you tap “Use my current location”, “Search with current location”, or submit a new mandir. Foreground only; never in the background. | To find dharmashalas near you and to attach the place where a mandir submission was made |
| Mandir details you submit | When you use Add Jain Mandir | To review and add the mandir to the directory |
We do not collect your contacts, photos, files, microphone, camera or advertising ID. The app does not use advertising or third-party analytics SDKs.
3. Information stored only on your phone
These stay on your device and are not sent to us: your theme, reading position in each book, text size, dashboard card order, the temple and dharmashala search results, and the temple and dharmashala directory itself. Searching for temples and dharmashalas near you is calculated on your phone.
4. How we use information
- To sign you in and run the app’s features.
- To send notifications you have allowed. You can turn them off in Android settings at any time.
- To review submitted mandir details and keep the directory accurate.
- To keep the service secure and prevent misuse.
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling or sale.
5. Services we use
Your information is processed on our behalf by these providers, under their own privacy policies:
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Messaging) for sign-in, profile data and notifications. Our database is hosted in Mumbai, India.
- Google Sign-In to let you sign in with your Google account.
- Google Maps to show the temple map and calculate routes. Route start and end points you enter are sent to Google. “Navigate” opens the Google Maps app.
- Cloudflare to store and deliver PDFs and photos, and to send scheduled notifications.
- YouTube: videos open in YouTube or your browser, which then applies YouTube’s policy.
We share information with authorities only when the law requires it.
6. How long we keep it
- Account and profile: until you ask us to delete your account.
- Notification inbox: automatically deleted after 30 days.
- Notification tokens: removed when they become invalid or when your account is deleted.
- Mandir submissions: kept while the mandir is in review or in the directory. You can ask for yours to be removed.
7. Delete your account and data
To delete your account and the data linked to it (name, email, mobile number, notification tokens, language and any mandir submissions you made), email [email protected] from the email address you signed in with, with the subject “Delete my Tirthoday account”. We will delete it within 30 days and confirm by email. You can also revoke the app’s access in your Google account settings.
8. Your choices and rights
- You can use the permissions screen of Android to turn off location and notifications at any time. The app keeps working without them.
- You may ask to see, correct or delete your information by emailing us.
- Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may also withdraw consent and raise a grievance with us at the email above.
9. Security
Data is sent over HTTPS. Access to our database is controlled by security rules, so each user can read only their own profile, and only authorised administrators can publish content. No method of storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
10. Children
The app is a general devotional app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. For significant changes we will also tell you inside the app.
